Located in the Cultural Center for the Arts. Established in 1935, the Canton Museum of Art has an excellent permanent collection that focuses on works on paper by American artists from 1850 to the present, with a concentration on watercolors, and a very fine ceramics collection, with works from 1950 forward. Rotating exhibitions highlight the permanent collections, and special exhibitions bring outstanding works to Northeast Ohio. CURRENT EXHIBITS: Stark ARThology November 19-28, 2010
Indigo Ink Press and the Canton Museum of Art are co-hosting a special exhibit of work by 69 local artists featured in Stark ARThology -- the first title published by Indigo Ink Press, a new nonprofit press for literary fiction, poetry, and art located in Canton. The exhibit features paintings, photography, mixed media, fiber arts, ceramic art, sculpture, glass, jewelry, and digital design.
